Awkward Topics That Needn't Be:),--DIGESTION

Elysha's Top 6 Simple Tips for Better Digestion

1) Don't eat at least 2 hours before bed

2) At least a pint of water upon waking in the morning, preferably with lime or lemon juice in it.

4) Watch your placement of fruit.  Eat fruit alone or with greens, NOT AFTER OR DURING A MEAL.  This varies from person to person, maybe this is not an issue for you.  If it is, give it a shot, eliminate the fruit during or after a meal and see if your digestion improves. I eat them in the morning at least 20 mins before I eat anything else, except greens.  Eat your green smoothies! :)

5) Drink water at least 20 minutes before a meal.  NOT DURING!  If you need something during a meal, choose apple-cider vinegar water, or "Sassy" water, made from an essential oil metabolic blend from doTERRA.
5 drops of doTERRA's "Slim and Sassy" metabolic essential oil blend per quart of water.  Drink throughout the day.
Apple-Cider Vinegar Water
4 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar (the kind with "The Mother" present, I use Bragg's) per quart of water,
and about the same amount of honey, 4 tsp... or to taste.

6) Stop eating your meal when you are 80% full.  It does not help ANYONE if you over eat, especially your digestion. :)

At the end of the day, the most important thing is self-love.  These are guidelines with which I have had great success.  Contour them to you and what works for you.  If you fall off the wagon, no worries... laugh, love yourself and joyfully leap back on. Make it SUSTAINABLE for you!

Enjoy the now! Love the now!

  1. Great tips Elysha! I am going to try the pint of lemon/lime water in the morning. I need to be making more fermented foods too. My little boy could especially benefit from a happier tummy. It seems like no matter what we try for him he always has to be on miralax for constipation. Would you suggest that doTerra oil for that?

  2. Thank you Rachel! There is an oil for that. It is called "Digestzen" and it is amazing in helping with regularity. I would also look at the water content of the foods that he is eating, maybe add a smoothie or two. You are such a good mom! I can just tell. :)

  3. Great tips! The water in the morning is a good idea.

As someone who has never had a green smoothie, what is the recipe for your favorite? I've looked online at a whole bunch of versions but I don't know how they'll taste.

    1. What size of blender do you have? If it is a normal blender, I would do 2 1/2 cups of water and 2 small handfuls of spinach, blend until smooth. Put in your counter fruit, any or all: apple, orange or banana. Blend until smooth. And then I add one frozen banana and about a cupish of frozen fruit, mixed fruit or berries. Blend and then you are done. This green smoothie is a higher ratio of fruit than greens, but you can gradually add more green and less fruit. I hope that makes it easy. Let me know how it goes!

    2. And thank you for your compliment! :):):):):):):)
